How-To Article: Building the Columbia Trolley Barn
The photo above was taken by John Denney, a local railroad historian and author
of several articles on local railroad history. It shows a trolley at Second and Locust Streets in Columbia. The
present day Historical Society Museum is visible on the right-hand side of the street.
The article below describes how I built the model of the Columbia trolley barn on Commerce Street.
Although the barn could actually hold 3 cars side-by-side, I built just a one-car barn.
In the early part of the 20th. century, trolleys were the main mode of transportation between
Columbia and Marietta, Lancaster and points between.
