Over the summer, some changes took place on the layout. The major project was
a 40-sq.ft. addition in the Columbia area. On this addition, a large 6 track yard was constructed by
Ken Duke and Dave Gruel. The cork under the yard is one large sheet.
Moving to the opposite side of the layout, work has been taking place in the canyon area and
the area near Chickies Rock. Dan Knight and his son Josh have been making trees and hot gluing them in
place. A castle was also placed on the hill in the canyon.
Back in Columbia, I've been working on three small projects. The first was a 2 foot by 3 foot diorama of the iron bridge to Wrightsville
based on an old photograph. This project is complete. The second was a factory on the edge of Columbia. The third is a tunnel between Columbia and East Manor. I've worked on a few additional Second Street buildings also.
Brian Brandt removed track in the former East Manor Yard. With the large yard in Columbia,
the Manor Yard became unnecessary. He built a dairy and an ice plant. He also wired the Columbia
Yard. Track sidings, a road, a small station and town are also planned in the former East Manor area.
With renovations taking place downstairs, I also took the opportunity to do a lot of cleaning up in the
train room. The entire balcony area of the room was cleared and swept. Wood, shelves and cabinets were moved to an
upstairs room in the connecting parsonage (keep in mind the museum was a former church).
